Eivissa beatification honours 20 priests on 17 October

Twenty priests will be beatified at Eivissa Cathedral at 11.00 on 17 October. The Diocese of Eivissa and Formentera has arranged a programme of services and memorial events before and after the ceremony. The first liturgical celebration for the new blessed will follow on 6 November.

Hymn, film and exhibition

Eivissa Cathedral will host the first performance of the Hymn of the Blessed Martyrs of Eivissa and Formentera at 20.00 on 10 October. A commemorative documentary will also be shown, while the exhibition In Memoriam. Ad Honorem is due to open in the Pabordía exhibition hall.

On 16 October, prayers and responsories — prayers for the dead — will be held at the places where the priests were killed. The programme begins at 10.00 at the Parador and sa Carrossa, then moves to the port of La Savina on Formentera at 12.00.

Services across Eivissa and Formentera

Further prayers are scheduled for 19.30 in the church square at Sant Carles. Vespers will be held at 20.30 in the parish church of Santa Eulària.

Eivissa Cathedral will hold a thanksgiving Mass at 11.00 on 18 October, the day after the beatification. Thanksgiving Masses for the beatifications are also planned in every parish in Eivissa and Formentera on 24 and 25 October.
