Mallorca beer and milk thefts: five held in Palma
Palma, Mallorca: Police arrest five men over suspected beer and milk thefts at a shopping centre between 29 October and the early hours of 3 November. Two of them are caught at the centre twice, according to Spain’s National Police. Three others are arrested after a security guard reports a break-in through a hole in the building’s wall.
Caught at the same centre twice
In the early hours of 29 October, officers spotted two men crouching behind a car near the shopping centre. They watched one climb the boundary wall with the other’s help. The pair then brought out six packs of beer. Police stopped and arrested them before they could leave.
At about 00.50 on 3 November, a security guard saw two men in the centre’s loading area on camera. When officers arrived, the men fled over the wall. One dropped stolen cartons of milk as they ran. Police caught them a short distance away and found they were the same two men arrested on 29 October. Both were arrested again.
Three more arrests after a break-in
At about 03.45, the guard reported that three men had entered the centre through a small hole made in its outer wall and fled carrying beer. Officers found three men in a nearby green area whose appearance and clothing matched the guard’s description.
Beside them was a pack of 25 beer cans. One man said they had found it in the rubbish. Police arrested all three on suspicion of burglary.
