Mallorca prosecutor plans official car case against Bestard

Mallorca’s vice-president Pedro Bestard faces a criminal complaint over the alleged misuse of the island council’s official cars: prosecutors have decided to file it after an investigation into suspected embezzlement. The decision became known on Monday, 2 November. The investigation followed a complaint from the Socialist group on the Mallorca Island Council.
Council president Llorenç Galmés will take all necessary measures if any wrongdoing is confirmed, council sources said. They called for restraint while the judicial process runs its course and said Bestard’s presumption of innocence must be respected.
