Menorca bike and e-scooter thefts: three arrested
Three arrests in Maó, Menorca: police recover stolen bicycles and e-scooters after three riders flee in different directions in the early hours last week. National Police officers spot the young men cycling along a street while on patrol. They catch one rider and find the other two during a search, arresting all three on suspicion of repeated theft.
Stolen bikes found after the search
The first man tells officers he ran because he was carrying marijuana. He is fined for it. Police then search locations in Maó and Es Castell, Menorca, finding stolen bicycles and e-scooters in a supermarket car park, an industrial building and a fairground.
Among the items are two protective helmets and an e-scooter with tampered and bridged wires. The vehicles had been stolen from building entrances and streets.
Police look for the remaining owners
Officers have returned some vehicles to their owners. The rest remain at the police station in Maó. The National Police are asking anyone who has recently discovered a bicycle or e-scooter theft to contact the station. Their investigation remains open as they try to identify the remaining owners.
