Mallorca and the other Balearic Islands are set for 2,405 Black Friday and Cyber Monday hires: shops and logistics firms are preparing for the sales days on 27 and 30 November. Recruitment company Randstad forecasts 4.1% more hires than in the previous campaign. It expects trade and logistics to drive the increase.

Shops and warehouses need staff

Logistics firms are looking for packers, forklift drivers, warehouse workers, transport staff and customer service workers as online orders grow. Shops need sales staff and advisers, particularly for technology, beauty products and food. Randstad says online shopping has not stopped stores hiring people to help customers face to face.

Employers want to bring workers in early enough to train them on products and procedures. They are also placing more value on digital skills for work that spans shops and online orders.

Balearic growth trails Spain

Across Spain, Randstad forecasts around 124,300 hires, up 5.3% on the previous campaign. Transport and logistics account for around 79,170 of those contracts, with around 45,130 in retail.

The Balearics account for nearly 2% of the national forecast. Randstad does not say how the 2,405 expected hires will be divided between the islands, so there is no separate figure for Mallorca.
