Palma, Mallorca: Shops open as usual on Saturday, 31 October, despite a call by Blocus for another afternoon gathering in Plaza de España. Some shops still have wooden boards up to protect their windows. On Friday, some businesses closed early ahead of the group’s previous call to gather there.

The Mallorca Association of Small and Medium-Sized Retailers (Pimeco) has advised its members not to close early this time. Its president, Carolina Domingo, said the police presence on Friday had provided strong protection against possible crime. She said the association remains alert and in touch with shops.

The Balearic Retailers’ Federation (Afedeco) also said shops in Palma were operating normally. Spain’s National Police and the local police are maintaining their precautionary presence.
