s’Estanyol boat accident: man dies off Mallorca

A man aged about 76 has died after a boat carrying six members of the same family overturned off s’Estanyol, Llucmajor, Mallorca, on Tuesday, 18 August. The boat accident happened around 100 metres from the shoreline in the early afternoon.

The cause of the capsize has not been established, according to emergency medical service SAMU 061 and the Civil Guard.

A vessel from the local nautical club brought those aboard to the harbour. Emergency crews tried to resuscitate the man but confirmed his death.

SAMU 061 also treated two other people at the scene. Neither needed to be taken to hospital.
