Court sends traffic back to Ciutadella's Born
Traffic must return to the Plaza des Born in Ciutadella, Menorca, after a court rejected the council's challenge to a ruling that overturned its pedestrianisation. The decision, made known on Wednesday, ends the legal route. Ciutadella Town Hall must now comply with the order to reopen the central square to road traffic.
The High Court of the Balearic Islands had ruled in May that the measures surrounding the pedestrianisation were invalid. Its decision partly upheld an appeal by a group of business owners in Ciutadella.
That appeal followed an earlier decision by the Court of First Instance in Palma, which had refused to suspend the council's measures. The town's governing team is due to explain the latest ruling at a press conference on Thursday.
