Mallorca’s ferry links are the focus in Palma, Mallorca, on Thursday: 22 visitors from the Danish island of Bornholm meet Balearic officials to see how the islands connect with each other and mainland Spain. The delegation is led by Bornholm’s mayor, Frederik Tolstrup. It meets Toni Mercant, the Balearic director general for ports and maritime transport, and Kico Villalonga, manager of PortsIB, according to the Balearic Department of the Sea and Water Cycle.

The discussion covers journeys to work, freight, tourism and travel for medical care. The visitors also ask how commercial ferry services work, what public transport contracts can and cannot cover, and how resident discounts, fares and sailing frequency affect travel.

Bornholm, in the Baltic Sea, also relies on sea and air links to bring in supplies and help people travel. Its visit is part of talks on the Balearic transport system held on 4 and 5 November. The programme also covers air travel and meetings with transport operators.
