Mallorca: Broken lifts found 24 times in Marratxí
Mallorca: A person with reduced mobility says they have found the lifts at the Sa Farinera underpass in Es Pont d'Inca, Marratxí, broken on 24 occasions, despite making complaints. MÉS per Marratxí reported their account on 2 October 2026 and called for better maintenance and faster repairs. For someone who cannot use the stairs, a broken lift can bring their journey to a halt, party spokeswoman Aina Amengual said.
Amengual said the problems at the underpass began during the previous council term. She accused the current mayor, Jaume Llompart, of failing to seek a solution in three years.
The party says the lift at Ca Ses Monges in Pla de na Tesa, Marratxí, is still out of service, preventing people with reduced mobility from joining activities in the building. At the Pòrtol health centre, Marratxí, a lift fault meant people who could not climb the stairs were treated on the landing, it said.
MÉS wants the council to give maintenance and accessibility more attention in its day-to-day work. For the Sa Farinera underpass, it wants the council to work with Serveis Ferroviaris de Mallorca to find a solution.
