Mallorca bull run faces ban call in Fornalutx

A bull run due to take place in Fornalutx on Saturday is facing a call for its permanent abolition. Animal-rights party Progreso en Verde says the correbou — a bull run — is an act of animal abuse and exploitation. The party has rejected the event going ahead.

It says the correbou is staged for the entertainment of “a few heartless people” and claims representatives of the PP applaud it.

Guillermo Amengual, president of Progreso en Verde, said the Fornalutx bull run should have been banned years ago. He blamed PSOE, MÉS and Podemos for blocking what he called a historic step for the Balearic Islands in 2017.

Amengual accused parties on both the left and right of ignoring animal suffering, saying some act out of cowardice while others defend animal mistreatment.
