Mallorca bus phone theft: three men arrested in Palma
A phone and two transport cards vanish from a bus near Porto Pi in Palma, Mallorca, on Tuesday: police arrest three men after a tip-off about a car at the port.
A member of the public alerted a patrol to three men acting suspiciously in the car, Palma Local Police said. Officers searched the area and found it. The driver tried to evade them, but they stopped the vehicle.
Inside, officers found two Tarjetas Ciudadanas transport cards in other people’s names, two SIM cards and a tool for removing them, and a phone set to Ukrainian. The men could not give a coherent account of where the items came from. Police contacted the owner, who said his phone and cards had just been stolen on a bus run by Palma’s Municipal Transport Company (EMT) near Porto Pi.
The three men, aged 22, 29 and 46, were arrested on suspicion of theft. Police returned the stolen items to their owner and handed the men to Spain’s National Police to be brought before a court. A municipal tow truck took their car to the Sa Riera depot.
