Mallorca pupils turn business ideas into school projects
Mallorca, Spain: pupils at two schools are developing their own business projects this school year as a pilot brings entrepreneurship lessons to bachillerato, Spain’s upper-secondary stage. IES Ses Estacions and CC Sant Pere are taking part alongside two schools on Menorca, Spain. On Wednesday, 4 November 2026, the Balearic Islands Department for Business, the Self-Employed and Energy said five groups across the four schools had joined the trial.
Bachillerato pupils have not been part of Ibemprènjove before. Those in its first two years will work through the steps of turning an idea into a business venture, building on what they learn in optional entrepreneurship subjects. The work also gives them practice in teamwork, making decisions and solving problems.
The two Menorca schools are IES Josep Miquel Guàrdia and IES Josep Maria Quadrado. Across the Balearic Islands, 83 groups at 27 schools are taking part in Ibemprènjove in the 2026–2027 school year, 37 per cent more groups than the year before. The programme now has five strands spanning secondary education, vocational training and university. Each year, its awards recognise business projects developed during the school year.
