Forest fire in Cala Domingos, Manacor, brought under control

A forest fire in Cala Domingos, in the municipality of Manacor, Mallorca, was brought under control on Thursday, 20 August. The blaze began at about 20.13 and was initially assigned potential severity level one.

The fire was burning in woodland close to residential and tourist buildings, according to images released by the Balearic Nature Institute. Crews from the institute and the Felanitx and Llucmajor stations of the Mallorca Fire Service attended, alongside a sergeant, a sub-officer and a technician.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Natural Environment reduced the potential severity rating to level zero at about 20.35 after firefighters gained control of the flames.
