Mallorca's Cala Murta camp to offer up to 70 places

Mallorca's youth camp at Cala Murta is set to offer up to 70 places: a new lease puts the site on course to return to public use. The Mallorca Island Council signed the agreement with the Rotger Villalonga Foundation on 28 September 2026. The council plans to run the camp for 20 years after the refurbishment, with an option to extend the lease by up to five years.

Plans for the camp

The camp sits on a roughly 710-hectare estate. The council plans to use it throughout the year, with a particular focus on school holidays, when demand from families rises.

It is working on an education plan alongside the youth camps. Activities will cover the landscape, nature and cultural heritage of the Serra de Tramuntana, which is a Unesco World Heritage site.

Work before handover

The foundation is refurbishing the camp. Plans include cabins, a main building, a dining room, a kitchen, toilets and showers. It will hand over the site only after the work is finished and the required licences and authorisations are in place.

The deadline for handover is 15 December 2027, though it could happen earlier if work finishes sooner. The 20-year lease begins at handover and totals almost €7.8 million.
