Menorca’s election board wants a video featuring island president Adolfo Vilafranca removed from the Menorca Island Council’s social media accounts. The council posted the promotional clip for its ‘Bons Menorca’ campaign last Monday, and the board says it breaches election law. Economy councillor Maria Antònia Taltavull also appears in it.

The board accepts that the council intended to inform people. But it says the way the video was posted could indirectly influence how some voters cast their ballots. Més per Menorca reported the decision on 31 October and included the board’s ruling in its statement.

The party says the board had already warned several town councils on Menorca about political content that did not comply with election law. It accuses the island government of ignoring those warnings and calls on the PP to hold its own officeholders to the standards it demands of other parties.
