Up to 25,000 vehicles a day use the road outside Campos on Mallorca in summer: a new roundabout is planned for a junction troubled by crashes and jams. The Council of Mallorca has invited bids for the 1.6 million euro project until 2 November, with work due to start at the end of the year. The exit leads towards Santanyí on the Ma-19 and the Colònia de Sant Jordi on the Ma-6040.

The council says the existing layout no longer meets road safety needs. It plans to remove the current roundabout, which it calls “very dangerous”, and build its replacement a few metres further on. The road will also be widened to help traffic move, particularly in summer. Traffic on Sant Blai street will change direction to fit the new layout.

Work will begin with cleaning and signs before the old roundabout is demolished and the new one built. The council aims to keep the roads open where possible, but says temporary diversions or traffic changes may be needed to maintain access to nearby towns. Once complete, the junction is expected to handle more vehicles.
