Ibiza road gets €944,400 for safer walking routes
The Can Marçà road through Santa Eulària, Ibiza, is set to gain pavements, a traffic-light crossing and renewed street lighting under a €944,400 plan signed on 2 September 2026. The Island Council of Ibiza and Santa Eulària Town Hall have agreed the scheme to improve road safety and make it easier for pedestrians to get around.
The Island Council will provide up to 944,400 euros. Santa Eulària Town Hall will put the work out to tender and carry it out.
The stretch has gradually become part of a built-up area and needs the safety, access and movement expected of an urban road, according to Island Council president Vicent Marí. He said the work had been sought by neighbours for a long time.
The project will add pedestrian routes along the road edges, reorganise existing access points and improve surface drainage. It also includes a signal-controlled pedestrian crossing and new lighting.
Mayor Carmen Ferrer said cooperation between the two authorities helps turn local demands into concrete projects more quickly. The Can Marçà scheme was already included in the Island Council’s 2023 plans to improve safety and mobility on Ibiza’s road network.
