Can Misses orthopaedic waits fall to 57 days

At Can Misses in Eivissa, patients now wait an average of 57 days for an orthopaedic and trauma appointment, down from more than 180 days in July 2023. The Pityusic Health Area reported the figures on Thursday, 17 September. It said the average delay had fallen by 68.10 per cent over three years.

The outpatient list has dropped from 4,165 people to 1,046, a reduction of 74.88 per cent. The number waiting longer than 60 days has fallen from 3,324 to 473 — down 85.77 per cent.

More specialists, shorter lists

Can Misses has added a new female trauma specialist. In July 2023, seven trauma specialists were working from a staff complement of 13. The service now has 14 specialists.

Surgery queue also shrinks

The number awaiting an orthopaedic or trauma operation has fallen from 535 to 340, a drop of 36.44 per cent. Those waiting more than 180 days have fallen from 214 to 55, down 74.29 per cent.

The average wait for an operation has also dropped by 52.15 per cent over the past three years.
