Palma neighbours step up Can Pasquet fight over 'lies'

Neighbours in Son Sardina and Sa Garriga, Palma, say they will keep up street pressure over the Can Pasquet plot on Thursday 24 September. They accuse Palma City Council, known as Cort, of lying about its purchase. The group also plans to widen its campaign and strengthen its support for families.

No purchase timetable

The neighbours say Cort has met them with disregard and silence, with no plan or deadlines for buying the plot beyond what they call an electoral gesture.

More than 200 neighbours had already demanded the immediate purchase of the land at the start of the month. They say the council had still not completed the purchase.

Parties face wider criticism

After Thursday’s plenary approved an initiative, the group said the lack of public spaces in Son Sardina was being treated as an electoral tool.

They hold every party represented in the plenary responsible and say none has shown self-criticism. The neighbours say the council only makes gestures when pressure in the street grows, and describe Can Pasquet as a long-standing neighbourhood demand.
