Mallorca: A man goes on trial in Palma on Friday, 2 October 2026, accused of stabbing his partner up to 66 times in a car in Can Pastilla, Mallorca. Their two-year-old daughter was in the car and suffered minor injuries in a crash after the attack. The killing happened on 10 December 2024.

Why no warning sounded

The man was already under an order to stay more than 500 metres from the woman and not contact her. According to the prosecution, he persuaded her through calls and messages to meet him and collect their daughter together. He asked her to leave her electronic monitoring bracelet at home.

A senior National Police investigator told the jury trial at the Provincial Court in Palma that this was why the monitoring system raised no alarm. After the couple collected the child, prosecutors say, the man pulled a knife from his clothing and stabbed the woman. She died within minutes.

What police found

The car was involved in several accidents before it struck another vehicle from behind and stopped. Palma Local Police arrested the man shortly afterwards in a nearby park. The investigator said the man told officers he had killed his partner.

The investigator also described a social-media video showing the accused in close-up with a song he considered threatening. People close to the woman had told police that the man controlled and repeatedly threatened her, he said. Their accounts also described her as having been forced into prostitution; the investigator did not say who had forced her.
