A man covered in blood tells police near Can Pastilla, Mallorca, “I killed her”: an officer recounts the encounter at a murder trial in Palma on Monday, 5 October. The man stands accused of stabbing his partner, María del Rosario, in their car in December 2024. Their baby daughter suffered minor injuries when the car later crashed.

The officer told the jury that the man also said he had stabbed his partner while driving and that this had caused the crash. Other officers described finding him with blood on his clothes and a cut on his hand. One said the man was calm at first but later broke down and cried. Alcohol and drug tests were negative.

Prosecutors say the man persuaded María del Rosario to leave her electronic monitoring bracelet at home before they collected their daughter from nursery. They allege he then stabbed her up to 66 times. Police found the bracelet at her home, explaining why it had not triggered an alert.

Investigators found most of the blood on the car’s passenger seat and a knife beneath a pedal on the driver’s side. Security footage shows the accused at the wheel, though the camera angle makes the passenger difficult to see. Police told the court that an electronic monitoring device also placed him at the scene.

The accused faces 27 years in prison if convicted. A jury is hearing the case.
