Mallorca cancer research gives patients a voice

Responsible for this content: Frank Menze

Mallorca cancer patients get a say on Thursday: they will meet researchers in Palma, Mallorca, to discuss how scientific advances could improve cancer care and quality of life. The discussion will close the second cancer research symposium held by the University of the Balearic Islands and the Spanish Association Against Cancer in the Balearics. It starts at 15.30 in the Son Lledó building on the university campus.

Before that discussion, Antoni Castells of IDIBAPS-Hospital Clínic in Barcelona will speak about bowel cancer screening and the Colonprev study. Researchers will then present doctoral theses from the 2025–2026 academic year, along with funding and awards given over the past year to research projects on the islands. The final conversation brings patients and researchers together to consider what those advances mean for people affected by cancer.
