Mallorca cancer patients gain new support room
Cancer patients and their families now have a dedicated space at Hospital de Manacor in Manacor, Mallorca. The hospital opened its new DOMUM room in the oncology day hospital on Friday, 18 September.
The room is designed to make time spent waiting more comfortable and better suited to people receiving cancer treatment. It is part of the DOMUM project, which adds psychosocial support for patients and families alongside clinical care.
Hospital manager Ignasi Casas said the space would help the hospital give closer care that also recognises patients’ emotional and social needs. During the opening, a patient spoke about the effect DOMUM activities had had on her care.
The hospital also demonstrated oncology yoga, a form of yoga offered for people with cancer. It is due to become a regular part of the programme from October.
