Mallorca: four cancer survivors speak out on IB3

Four young survivors of childhood cancer are sharing the physical and emotional effects the illness has left behind in a new IB3 video podcast. The eight-part series, La Campana, convivir con el cáncer infantil, was presented on Monday at Es Baluard Museu d’Art Contemporani in Palma and launches on Thursday, 17 September. IB3 journalist Joan Farrés leads the conversations.

Paula Villalonga was diagnosed at 11, Roberto Adrover at 14 and Emma Aparicio at 13. Marta Roig was 9 when she had cancer and suffered a relapse when she turned 18.

The four speak about the challenges ahead, their doubts about the present and how they see the world around them. Their relatives and healthcare workers also appear in every episode, describing life on the paediatric oncology ward at University Hospital Son Espases and how it is now.

The series will be available on Spotify, the IB3 Ràdio website, IB3’s social media channels and @melpermel on Instagram and TikTok. IB3 also plans to show it on television later.
