Mallorca cancer symposium gives patients a say
Mallorca cancer patients join researchers and health professionals on Thursday: the second Balearic cancer research symposium brings them together at the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB). The university is organising the event with the Spanish Association Against Cancer in the Balearic Islands. Families, carers and the public can attend too.
Doctor Antoni Castells will present findings from the Colonprev study on preventing bowel cancer and detecting it early. Young UIB researchers will also present their doctoral work and research projects.
The day ends with a discussion between patients, researchers and health professionals about how scientific advances reach cancer care. They will consider treatment options and quality of life. UIB professor Pilar Roca and doctor Jordi Llabrés will moderate the discussion. Attendance is free, but registration is required through the Balearic University-Business Foundation website, where the full programme is available.
