25kg cannabis seizure at Palma Airport

A passenger has been arrested at Palma Airport after police found about 25kg of cannabis in two suitcases. The man was stopped after an international flight landed during the early hours of 18 September. National Police suspect him of drug trafficking.

Airport investigation officers were carrying out random checks on passengers from the flight when they selected the man. His luggage contained 50 sealed bags of cannabis, police said.

The National Centre for Immigration and Borders coordinated the operation with border-post officers. The seized drugs have been handed to the judicial authority, while the National Police's Udyco unit investigates where the shipment came from and where it was headed.
