Mallorca care home offers 10 places for disabled children

A specialist care home in Marratxí, Mallorca, now offers ten places for children with severe disabilities. Nola was presented at an event reported on 23 September 2026, with its founders, supporters and families linked to Perlentaucher present. Children and young people can stay for one or more days while receiving professional care tailored to their individual needs.

The home stands at the Fundación Aspace Baleares site and is described as Mallorca’s first specialist residence of its kind. It also has ten places for adults.

Across about 500 square metres, Nola has single and shared bedrooms, communal areas, quiet spaces and outdoor areas adapted for residents’ needs. For families, the stays are intended to create time to rest or deal with other family responsibilities.

Built from a family’s experience

Anja von Enden and her husband, James von Enden, helped launch the project after their own experience as parents. Their daughter, who had cerebral palsy, died in 2021 aged seven.

Anja von Enden said families had often lacked the support, security and relief the new home is designed to provide. She said finding the right person to care for or accompany a child with severe disabilities can be difficult, while many island families cannot afford a private carer.

Funding behind the new home

The initial investment for the new supervised residences within Fundación Aspace was put at about €900,000. Private donations, gifts in kind and support from local businesses covered a significant share.

The couple’s initiative also helped secure additional public funding. The Balearic Government has committed €3.1 million over ten years for the two new adult residences.
