Menorca care home: MPs press for Ciutadella site

Ciutadella, Menorca, could get a new care home on a plot in Son Blanc: the Balearic Islands Parliament wants the regional government to accept land offered by the town council. On 3 November 2026, MPs also called for more places at the town’s existing care home and day centre.

The parliament urged the government to keep its funding commitment for work to renovate and expand Ciutadella’s municipal care home, and to expand its day centre. The work would add places and improve the existing facilities. MPs also want both projects included in the 2026–2030 plan for social care and health facilities.

Elsewhere on Menorca, the government has been asked to consider a new care home in Es Mercadal with its town council, and a new day centre in Fornells. Most points in the motion from Més per Menorca passed with support from the left-wing parties. Vox backed some points, while the People’s Party abstained.
