The Spanish government counts only the 2,455 people past the six-month limit on its “official waiting list”. Another 2,971 have waited less than six months. In one further case, the reason for the wait is not attributed to the administration.

As at 30 September 2026, 1,125 people were waiting for a decision on their level of care need. Another 4,202 were waiting for a decision on their individual care plan. Those two figures do not add up to the reported total of 5,427; the published account gives no explanation for the difference.
