Mallorca florists see more customers in carnation drive
Mallorca’s florists report more customers in their shops during a carnation campaign on Tuesday and Wednesday. The “Give a Flower” drive aimed to keep alive the custom of giving carnations for Dia de les Verges. On Thursday, 22 October, the Mallorca Florists’ Association and business group Pimeco said the extra footfall also helped draw attention to florists’ work and small shops.
The shops are now preparing for All Saints’ Day on 1 November, one of the most important dates of their year. The two groups are urging families, especially younger people, to remember loved ones who have died with flowers. They say buying from small and medium-sized shops also helps preserve Mallorca’s local trade and traditions.
