Mallorca co-op wins prize as €8m carob plant takes shape
Mallorca’s Camp Mallorquí is spending €8 million on a new carob-processing plant in Consell, Mallorca. On Wednesday, 30 September 2026, the co-operative received AgroBank’s Balearic food and agriculture innovation award. CaixaBank says the prize recognises its work to modernise production.
The plant will produce flour for human consumption, ingredients for baby food and sugars suitable for people with diabetes. The Balearic Islands government is supporting the project.
Camp Mallorquí serves around 3,500 members across Mallorca. It is working to modernise carob and almond growing and improve the profitability of farms.
This is the first year of the AgroBank awards. There are 11 regional prizes, with a national gala planned for 1 December in San Sebastián.
