938 public workers start Catalan courses in Balearics

938 active public-sector employees across the Balearic Islands have begun Catalan courses this week. The programme includes 18 courses taught online or in hybrid format. The Balearic Islands School for Public Administration (EBAP) runs the scheme, backed by about €120,000.

A total of 25 teachers are involved, alongside a coordinator for online training. Courses cover B2, C1, C2 and language used in administration, with official assessments included.

The online option remains available at every level. But a new hybrid pilot for C1 and C2 is intended to gradually bring classroom attendance back, giving learners face-to-face practice in speaking, interaction and writing.

Teaching ends in February, with official exams scheduled for March 2027. Places are for active staff in the Balearic administration and its public bodies, the University of the Balearic Islands and other territorial authorities and their dependent bodies.
