Palma, Mallorca: Signs for the new Parc Verd de Llevant show only Spanish, MÉS per Palma says, and the party wants them changed. On 2 October 2026, councillor Miquel Àngel Contreras accused the city council of leaving Catalan out of its public communications through its municipal company Emaya.

Council rules say city adverts and signs must generally be in Catalan. Council reports also track whether the rule is being followed. MÉS says a language law requires public signs to appear in Catalan, with Catalan first if a sign is bilingual.

Contreras called the signs “particularly serious” and accused the governing People’s Party of adopting the language-policy changes sought by the far-right Vox party. MÉS wants the signs and adverts for Parc Verd de Llevant corrected. It is also asking the council to review its language rules for all official advertising.
