Ceiling collapses in Palma home, building sealed

Part of a ceiling has collapsed inside a house in Palma, Mallorca, after the property was emptied because it was at risk of falling down. Palma City Council sealed the building at 10 Encarnación Viñas Street in the Camp Redó district following Friday’s collapse.

The house is about 70 years old, according to council sources. The couple who had been living there did not need accommodation from social services, as they are staying with a family member.

The collapse came after the earlier evacuation over fears for the building’s safety. The sealed house now remains off limits.
