Free CEOMA app brings news and chat to older people

Older people can now find CEOMA projects, news and current interviews in one free mobile app. The Spanish Confederation of Organisations for Older People launched “CEOMA en tu bolsillo: la app que une” in Madrid on 22 September. It is designed to make the organisation’s information easier to reach and encourage participation.

CEOMA president José Luis Fernández Santillana said older people are using mobile devices increasingly to get information and communicate. “CEOMA had to be there too,” he said.

The app is free to download on Android and iOS and is open to everyone. CEOMA says it uses a clear, simple layout, recognisable icons and navigation intended to make content easier to find and view.

The Instituto de Mayores y Servicios Sociales, known as IMSERSO, has funded the app, which was developed by ToolPrive.

Users can also check current accreditations for companies, organisations and public authorities listed in the app’s section for organisations recognised as friendly to older people. A community chat and social wall allow people to share experiences from CEOMA events and respond to other posts.
