Mallorca: 13 years sought in Manacor child abuse trial
Mallorca: A young man faces trial on Tuesday, 20 October, accused of sexually abusing a girl who was 11 at the time in Manacor, Mallorca, and persuading her to send up to 90 intimate photos. He is due before the Balearic Islands Provincial Court at 10.00. Prosecutors are seeking 13 years in prison and 12,000 euros in compensation for the girl.
The alleged offences took place between 2016 and 2017. The man already knew the girl because their mothers were friends. Prosecutors say he contacted her through social media and messaging apps, then convinced her by mobile phone to send the photos. They also allege he touched her intimately on several occasions when they met.
He is accused of corruption of minors and sexual abuse. According to prosecutors, the girl has suffered anxiety and depression and has engaged in self-harming behaviour as a result.
