Palma: EspaiSalut adds bookings for 12 child check-ups
Parents and authorised carers in Palma will be able to book child health check-ups through EspaiSalut, the Balearic health portal and app. The changes, announced by the Balearic Health Ministry on 8 September, will also allow users to handle services for another patient. EspaiSalut has recorded nearly 138,000 unique users since it launched in March.
An authorised user will be able to act for a child, a dependent person or another patient. That includes viewing their health record, managing medical appointments and using digital health services in their name.
The new booking option covers the Child and Adolescent Health Programme, which schedules 12 follow-up check-ups from birth to the age of 14. Users will be able to choose the professional they need, including a doctor, nurse or paediatrician. Midwives and social workers are also being added to the available options.
Appointments for blood draws, tests and sample drop-offs can also be managed through the portal. The health service plans to add primary-care dentists and pharmacists later.
Users will also be able to download attendance certificates from primary care and hospitals. A digital version of the health card will show the QR code linked to the physical card on a mobile phone.
For appointments and checking medicine co-payments, the system currently asks for the Balearic personal identification number, known as CIP, and a date of birth. Other procedures require secure identification, such as Cl@ve. Health centres offer help with registration for electronic identification.
EspaiSalut is an extra route to health services, not a replacement for in-person care or procedures at health centres.
