Child-on-parent violence: 201 Balearic court cases
Mallorca is part of a Balearic Islands tally of 201 court proceedings over children accused of attacking their parents in 2025. That is down from 225 in 2024, a fall of 10.6%. Fundación Amigó released the figures on Thursday, 1 October, using reports from juvenile prosecutors.
A fall that leaves much unseen
Across Spain, 4,038 proceedings were opened against minors over violence towards their parents in 2025, down 10.7% from the previous year. But the foundation estimates that only 10% to 15% of such situations are reported. Most never reach official records.
The regional figures vary sharply. Madrid recorded 1,036 proceedings, Andalusia 831 and the Valencia region 655, compared with 201 in the Balearic Islands.
Families often ask for help late
Families commonly seek support only after life at home has become badly strained, the foundation says. By then, the violence has often escalated to insults, threats or physical attacks. It has also seen more disputes over access to screens and limits on their use.
Mothers remain the main victims, though the foundation says there is no single profile of a young person who attacks a parent. Its nine Conviviendo projects helped nearly 1,000 people from around 350 families in 2025. Psychologist Cristina Vaquero says specialist support needs strengthening so families can get help sooner.
