At least 67 children in the Balearic Islands face a risk of attack by their mothers’ abusers. Figures for 30 September 2026 show 4,412 active cases of violence against women across the islands, including 2,051 involving women with children in their care. Spain’s Ministry of the Interior records the cases in its VioGén protection system.

The ministry rates the risk to ten of the children as high and to 57 as medium. Its figures also label 690 cases involving children in their mothers’ care as “of special relevance”.

Across all 4,412 active cases, the ministry rates 3,555 as low risk, 796 as medium risk, 60 as high risk and one as extreme risk.
