Part of an annex roof collapses at the former Cine Iris in Palma, Mallorca: Podemos wants the council to make the surrounding area safe and protect the building. On 21 October 2026, the party calls on Palma City Council to set out measures and deadlines. It also wants a plan for the site that meets the neighbourhood’s needs.

Podemos says the partial collapse shows the council has failed to act before historic buildings deteriorate. Unidas Podemos councillor Lucía Muñoz says neighbourhood groups have long warned about buildings and spaces that need protection. The party fears neglected sites could end up in private hands and be used for speculation.

One possibility Podemos raises is using Cine Iris to expand CEIP El Vivero school. Its statement gives no timetable for council action or decision on the building’s future.
