Mallorca storm: Cinema annex roof caves in, three rooms shut
Palma, Mallorca: Heavy rain brings down part of the roof of an annex to the former Cine Iris on Tuesday, while three nursery rooms close elsewhere in the city. No one is hurt, Palma City Council says.
Firefighters and city planning staff find no risk to the surrounding area or a nearby school in their first inspection. They cordon off the collapse site and plan to return on Wednesday.
Three nursery rooms remain closed
A fallen tree damages the Son Roca nursery, forcing one room to close. Rain also shuts two rooms at the Es Molinar nursery. Both nurseries open on Tuesday and continue their other classes, but the affected rooms will stay closed until the damage is repaired.
Parks reopen, but checks continue
Palma firefighters respond to 23 storm-related incidents between Saturday and Tuesday. Traffic lights fail briefly in parts of the city; most are working again, though repairs continue at some points.
Parks, gardens, sports facilities and libraries reopen on Tuesday. Can Terrers and Sa Ribera park remain closed while the city checks whether they are safe.
