Ciutadella plans water leak hunt across 145 km of pipes
Ciutadella, on Menorca, plans to check 145 kilometres of drinking-water pipes for leaks. The town council announced the plan on 4 November 2026, saying it wants to cut water losses and improve the network’s performance. Its governing board has approved a proposed contract backed by a municipal technical report.
Before searching the pipes, the team will check the lowest overnight water flows, pressure and performance in different parts of the network. That should help it focus on areas most likely to have leaks. It will then use equipment that picks up sounds in the pipes.
The proposal names Tecnologías Renovadas del Agua SL, known as Aquater, for the 18,000-euro job, which is expected to take one month. The work would also include training council staff to use the leak-detection equipment for future searches and maintenance.
