Schools on Mallorca, in the Balearic Islands, resume classes on Tuesday after Monday’s weather-related suspension, but a yellow weather warning remains in place until 12.00. Classes also restart on Eivissa and Formentera as conditions improve. The Balearic Islands government says lessons will run as normal and asks families and school staff to watch for messages from their schools and official channels.

The Universitat de les Illes Balears also resumes teaching on Tuesday. It suspended classes at its sites on Mallorca, Eivissa and Formentera on Monday.

Spain’s weather agency, Aemet, keeps the yellow warning in place on all three islands until 12.00 on Tuesday. On Menorca, it runs from 03.00 to 18.00. Aemet forecasts up to 30 litres of rain per square metre in an hour across the Balearic Islands, a level it rates as low danger. It still says heavy or very heavy rain is possible, along with occasional very strong gusts of wind, particularly on Monday night and early Tuesday.
