In Palma, Mallorca, former coast and shoreline chief Maria Joaquina Ferrer has lost her post, with the minister responsible denying that outside pressure was behind the move. Juan Manuel Lafuente, Minister for the Sea and Water Cycle, made the denial on Tuesday at the first full sitting of the Balearic Parliament. MÉS per Mallorca MP Maria Ramon questioned the dismissal of a director she said had complied with the rules.
Lafuente also rejected the suggestion that a specific case had led to Ferrer’s removal. He said he had never stepped into an individual decision, and that his focus had been on meeting deadlines.
