Palma, Mallorca: A random traffic stop leads police to two packages of suspected cocaine in a car’s glovebox, weighing 2,240.96 grams in total. Officers arrest two men, aged 42 and 50. The Local Police of Palma reported the case on 29 October 2026.

Police say they picked the car at random during a preventive vehicle and public-safety check. Both occupants appeared unusually nervous. Officers also found that the car’s vehicle inspection had expired and it had no compulsory liability insurance.

When the men got out, officers found €2,060 in small-denomination notes in the 42-year-old passenger’s trouser pocket. His shoulder bag held a piece of hashish and a lump of cocaine. That discovery prompted a full search of the car.

Inside a cloth bag in the front glovebox, officers found two rectangular packages wrapped in red. A small cut into one revealed white powder consistent with cocaine. Both men said they did not know where the packages had come from.

Police arrested the men on suspicion of a public-safety offence and had the car towed to the municipal depot at Sa Riera. They passed the case file and both men to Spain’s National Police ahead of a court appearance.
