Cocaine arrest after sunglasses sale at Playa de Palma

A 27-year-old street seller has been arrested at Playa de Palma after police said he sold cocaine alongside sunglasses. Palma Local Police said the suspected sale took place last Wednesday at about 19.15 at the junction of Carrer Llaüt and Carrer Pare Bartomeu Salvà. Officers on patrol saw the man hand a passer-by sunglasses and a small white packet in return for an unspecified number of banknotes.

The buyer was stopped shortly afterwards. Police found a packet containing a whitish substance that could be cocaine in his trouser pocket, along with a cannabis bud. He told officers he had just paid the street seller 40 euros for the substance.

A second patrol found the suspect in Carrer Pare Bartomeu Salvà after receiving his description. Police said he tried to run when he spotted them, but officers stopped him a few metres away.

They found 165 euros in cash on him. The Senegalese national was arrested on suspicion of an offence against public health and handed to the Spanish National Police.
