Palma cocaine taxi: two men arrested after flat raid

More than 40 grams of cocaine and over €11,200 in cash are seized from a flat in Palma, Mallorca, after National Police arrest a suspected dealer on Thursday. He is the second of two Spanish men held over an alleged cocaine delivery operation. A judge has remanded him in custody.

The investigation began in mid-May, according to the Balearic Islands police headquarters. Officers say the men supplied cocaine to sales points across Palma and directly to consumers using their own powerful car.

Police call this kind of delivery service a “telecoca” — a cocaine taxi.

One suspect was arrested in mid-August while carrying more than 20 grams of cocaine. Police say his alleged accomplice continued making deliveries, arranging brief meetings with other people in cafés or inside the car.

The meetings lasted about 30 seconds before those involved went their separate ways, officers said. When police found and arrested the second man on Thursday morning, they searched his home and found cocaine in several packages.

The cash was in a safe hidden inside a wardrobe.
