Balearic commercial berths: renew or lose priority

Balearic commercial berths for 2027: operators who miss the 31 December 2026 renewal deadline lose priority, and their berth goes to public tender. The Balearic Ministry of the Sea and Water Cycle announced in Palma, Mallorca, on Monday, 5 October, that Ports de Balears (PortsIB) has opened applications.

The process covers temporary commercial permits for berths in ports run directly by PortsIB. The berths serve hire boats, water activities and passenger sea transport.

To qualify for priority renewal, operators must hold a permit valid during 2026, be up to date with fees and have complied with their permit conditions. Renewal can last no more than one year. Operators who do not apply also lose priority, with the berth then awarded through a public tender.

Applications can be filed through the PortsIB electronic portal. Anyone who applies in person must also submit the application online; only the date of the online submission counts. PortsIB advises operators to start early and check the required documents and conditions before applying.
