Mallorca: a court in Palma rejects a debt collector’s claim for more than €2,000 against a Dentix patient whose dental treatment was never finished. The ruling, reported on 2 October 2026, follows the closure of the Dentix clinics.

The court found that the patient’s loan was tied to the treatment. Dentix had not completed the work, and the patient had complained. He could therefore refuse to pay the sum claimed, even though the debt had been sold to another company.

The Balearic Consumers and Users Association (Consubal) helped with the initial complaint and referred the case to a lawyer it works with. The debt collector must also pay the court costs. The ruling is final and cannot be appealed.

Consubal says selling a debt to a collection company does not take away a patient’s rights when the treatment paid for by the loan is not delivered.
